Judah in envy had sold his brother Joseph as a slave

Kindness: Judah later showed great kindness. Gen. chapters 37 & 44

Fits of rage

John had wanted fire to destroy his enemies

Goodness: John later exemplified love and goodness. John 9:54

Selfish ambition

Jacob had tricked Esau to get his inheritance

Faith: Jacob learned to trust God to help him. Gen. 25:29-34 & chapter 27

Dissensions, factions, envy

Antioch believers had a sad doctrinal division

Gentleness: The believers' conflict turned into gentle unity. Acts 15

Drunkenness, orgies

Corinthian believers had been selfish and indulgent
