44[Jesus] said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to youwhile I was still with you, that everything written about me inthe Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must befulfilled. “45 Then he opened their minds to understand theScriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, thatthe Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from thedead,47 and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should beproclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sendingthe promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until youare clothed with power from on high. “

“Menof Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested toyou by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God didthrough him in your midst, as you yourselves know—23 this Jesus,delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge ofGod, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24 Godraised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was notpossible for him to be held by it. 25 For David says concerninghim, “‘I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my righthand that I may not be shaken;

32This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. 33Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and havingreceived from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he haspoured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. 34 ForDavid did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, “‘TheLord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, 35 until I make yourenemies your footstool. ‘ 36 Let all the house of Israel thereforeknow for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, thisJesus whom you crucified. “

37Nowwhen they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peterand the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”38And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one ofyou in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins,and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

13The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, theGod of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom youdelivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he haddecided to release him. 14 But you denied the Holy and RighteousOne, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,15 and youkilled the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To thiswe are witnesses.

18What God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that hisChrist would suffer, he thus fulfilled. 19 Repent therefore, andturn again, that your sins may be blotted out,

26God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to blessyou by turning every one of you from your wickedness. “

29Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God ratherthan men. 30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killedby hanging him on a tree. 31 God exalted him at his right hand asLeader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness ofsins. 32 And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the HolySpirit, whom God has given to those who obey him. “

38God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and withpower. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressedby the devil, for God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of allthat he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. Theyput him to death by hanging him on a tree, 40 but God raised himon the third day and made him to appear, 41 not to all the peoplebut to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate anddrank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he commanded usto preach to the people and to testify that he is the oneappointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43 To himall the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in himreceives forgiveness of sins through his name. “

28Though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, they askedPilate to have him executed. 29 And when they had carried out allthat was written of him, they took him down from the tree and laidhim in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead,31 and for manydays he appeared to those who had come up with him from Galilee toJerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people. 32 And webring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers,33this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, asalso it is written in the second Psalm, “‘You are my Son,today I have begotten you.’ …

37But he whom God raised up did not see corruption. 38 Let it beknown to you therefore, brothers, that through this manforgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,39 and by him everyonewho believes is freed from everything…

2 Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days hereasoned with them from the Scriptures,3 explaining and provingthat it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise fromthe dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, isthe Christ.”

29Being then God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the divinebeing is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the artand imagination of man. 30 The times of ignorance God overlooked,but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,31 because hehas fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousnessby a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assuranceto all by raising him from the dead. “

17The Gentiles—to whom I am sending you 18 to open their eyes, sothat they may turn from darkness to light and from the power ofSatan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and aplace among those who are sanctified by faith in me. ‘ 19″Therefore, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to theheavenly vision,20 but declared first to those in Damascus, thenin Jerusalem and throughout all the region of Judea, and also tothe Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performingdeeds in keeping with their repentance. 21 For this reason theJews seized me in the temple and tried to kill me. 22 To this dayI have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand heretestifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what theprophets and Moses said would come to pass:23 that the Christ mustsuffer and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, hewould proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles. “
