The authors ofPaul-Timothy come from a secular, North American background.They became Christians as young adults. They joinedevangelical congregations and worked for many years with evangelicalmissionary agencies.

The authors havecollaborated with a variety of biblically-oriented Christiandenominations, and most conservative theological tendencies. As theywrote the Paul-Timothy materials, they strove to maintain an entirelybiblical approach, producing materials that would prove widelyacceptable.

• Rapidreproduction of apprentice leaders of newly-founded cells andcongregations, without requiring extra-biblical qualifications.

• Low-costmethods of evangelism and training that can be imitated inlocal, social networks and economies.

• On-the-jobtraining of apprentice shepherds and church planters in”multi-generational” training chains.

• Menu-drivenmaterials that help leaders coach their apprentices by responding tocurrent opportunities and needs of newly-founded cells andcongregations.

• Sharing of authority between coaches andapprentices, empowering new leaders to lead their flocks in obeying allthe commandments of Jesus.
